The McColl Group Acquires Good Optical Services

Melbourne-based optical wholesaler Good Optical Services has been acquired by The McColl Group, the parent company of Aaron's Eyewear. The move brings together two long-standing suppliers to the optical industry, each known for strong customer relationships and a commitment to service quality.

Founded in 1982, Good Optical Services has supplied optometrists, opticians, ophthalmologists, hospitals, and universities across Australia and New Zealand for more than four decades. The business also maintains a strong presence at industry trade shows and is recognised for its therapeutic products and optical supplies.

Under the acquisition agreement, founders Rick and Marissa Good will remain actively involved for a 12-month transition period. This phase will focus on transferring operational knowledge, introducing the new owner to established customers and suppliers, and maintaining continuity of service.

Both Good Optical Services and Aaron's Eyewear will continue operating under their own brand names and with their existing teams. The integration under The McColl Group will not affect day-to-day operations for customers, who will continue to receive the same level of personalised care, quality products, and industry support.

The acquisition is positioned as a strategic alignment, leveraging the complementary strengths of each business while preserving their distinct market identities. It also underscores a shared commitment to the evolving needs of Australia’s optical professionals, with a strong focus on service consistency, trust, and long-term industry partnerships.

With the transition plan in place, the change in ownership is expected to be smooth, ensuring that both customers and suppliers continue to experience stability during the handover period.
